About Eiffel Tower
In Paris, France, one can instantly take heed of a number of striking attractions: the sensual flavor of French wine, the bustling nightlife, unending rows of boutiques, and most noticeable of all, the artistic genius of the French. Creativity is in every possible nook and cranny of this classic, yet modern city. And above all this flowing artistry, towers the one symbol that leaves beholders in awe, disbelief, and amazement all at the same time. This is the world-renowned Eiffel Tower (or "Tour Eiffel" in French). Conceived by French engineer and architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel (who, incidentally, also served as engineering consultant to the construction of the Statue of Liberty), the Eiffel Tower was constructed for the Universal Exhibition of Paris or Paris World's Fair of 1889 (Exposition Universelle de 1889). The colossal monument commemorates the centenary of the French Revolution. |
